Immunization with Hiberix vaccine

Hiberix is a live single-component vaccine for the prevention of diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib). According to the current vaccination schedule of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, vaccination against Hib infection is carried out in early childhood in 3 stages, namely.

Dose # 1 is injected at the 2nd month of the child's life, starting from the 6th week.

Dose # 2 - at the 4th month.

Dose # 3 - 12th month.

If immunization was not performed at the recommended age (up to one year), it can be performed at any time according to an individual scheme (up to 5 years). After the age of five, children are prescribed only one dose of the vaccine. If you miss the scheduled time for the next dose, you should consult a doctor as soon as possible and continue the vaccination course.

What diseases does Hiberix vaccination protect against and why are they dangerous?

Pneumonia is one of the top 10 diseases that cause death in children under 4 years old, and is also dangerous because it often leads to complications.

Meningitis - haemophilus bacillus is the cause of purulent meningitis in children, which is especially difficult to cope with for children under 5 years old, because the immune system is not sufficiently developed. Possible complications include hearing and vision loss.

Bronchitis - develops against the background of acute respiratory diseases of various nature, which inevitably affect children during the period of entering kindergarten.

Otitis media - anatomical and physiological features of children under 3 years old contribute to the spread of bacterial infection from the nasal cavity to the middle ear cavity. The worst complication is the development of meningitis.

Vaccination

The procedure begins with a preliminary examination of the child. The doctor should find out what the baby's body temperature is, examine the mucous membrane of the nose and oral cavity. Make sure that the little patient is feeling well, and ask their parents about possible allergic reactions in the past.

The medication is injected intramuscularly. It is important to remember that there may be adverse reactions in the form of swelling, redness of the injection site, weakness for 1-3 days after the procedure. This is normal, but not a cause for alarm. You will receive more detailed information directly from the doctor.
