CT angiography is a minimally invasive method of visualizing human blood vessels (arteries), which allows you to get an image in a three-position form to assess their patency. In the case of thrombosis (blockage) of blood vessels, the blood supply to a certain organ is disrupted, then ischemia develops (for example, stroke, heart attack, etc.).

Which arteries can be examined on CT?
- arteries of the brain;
- neck;
- upper extremities;
- pulmonary arteries;
- coronary (cardiac) arteries;
- aorta;
- renal arteries;
- femoral;
- arteries of the lower extremities.
How does the CT angiography procedure work?
Visualization of the arteries using a CT scanner is possible only with the introduction of a radiopaque drug. Therefore, before the examination, the patient is placed a peripheral catheter in the vessel (most often in the elbow area, or on the outer surface of the arm). During the examination, contrast is injected into the vessel at a certain constant rate, using a medical injector.
The examination time lasts 10-15 minutes, and the direct scanning time is from 7 to 30 seconds (depending on the scanning area).
Upon completion of the diagnosis, the patient will receive the prepared images (with a 3D model of the scanning area) on a disk, flash drive, or email. The result (description) can be obtained by email, in your personal account, or at the reception at the St. Paraskeva Medical Center.
What are the advantages of this method?
- diagnostic speed;
- low dose of radiation exposure;
- low renal load;
- 3D color modeling;
- return to a normal lifestyle immediately after the examination;
- no need to stay in a hospital, etc.
