Holter monitoring by the MAWI BIOSENSOR PATCH device
Holter monitoring is a method of electrophysiological instrumental diagnostics, which consists in long-term recording of an electrocardiogram (ECG) in the conditions of daily activity of the patient with subsequent analysis of the obtained record. Thanks to this method, it is possible to detect disorders in the heart, even when they occur very rarely, because ECG recording is performed continuously from three to five days.
This method is highly informative and non-invasive (i.e. painless and completely harmless). It is widely used in both inpatient and outpatient (home) settings to diagnose even minor disorders of the heart (coronary heart disease, heart rhythm and conduction disorders, etc.), as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
Advantages
The examination consists of continuous recording of an electrocardiogram, so the slightest changes in the work of the heart will be recorded.
ECG recording is performed using a special portable device (recorder), which the patient wears around his/her neck or belt. The recorder records the ECG and saves it to an electronic media, from which, after the examination is completed, information is transmitted to the computer.
A qualified doctor of functional diagnostics of the St. Paraskeva Medical Center, having processed the data, provides conclusions on the examination and further recommendations.
Holter monitoring by the MAWI BIOSENSOR PATCH device is:
- high-precision diagnostics of the slightest changes in heart function
- detection of more than 75 types of cardiac arrhythmias
- convenient observation from 3 to 5 days
- getting results the next day after the end of the survey
- disposable devices are safe and easy to use
Doctors
Diagnostics
The examination begins with the application of a disposable adhesive electrical device to the patient's chest.
During monitoring, the patient leads a normal lifestyle (works, performs daily work, rests, washes, etc.).
Any physical activity, the time of the beginning and end of sleep, discomfort in the heart area, changes in the psycho-emotional state, it is important to record in a paper notebook or electronic media, which is then transferred to the doctor for comparison with the ECG data.
Preparation for the examination
For high-quality ECG recording and reliable fixation of disposable electrodes during monitoring, the skin on the chest and upper abdomen should be hairless.
Special features
During the entire time of monitoring, automatic monitoring of the state of fixation of the electrodes is carried out. If for any reason at least one of the electrodes has moved away from the body, the patient will hear a beep. In this case, it is important to check all electrodes for tightness of fixation to the skin.
During the examination, it is NOT recommended to make sudden movements and bends of the body, touch electrodes unnecessarily and take water procedures.
Please note that the patient will be able to get more detailed information about the specifics of the examination from our specialists during the installation and start-up of the device.
